The Spitzkoppe has a height of 1728 meters above sea level and due to its shape it is also known as the “Matterhorn of Namibia”. Many thousands of years ago, the San bushmen settled in the rock caves of this mountain where you can still find many of their old rock paintings.

If you like hiking you can climb up to "Bushman’s Paradise" where a great number of rock paintings can be seen. You will also have a fantastic view from there. The Spitzkoppe is ideal for adventurous walks and rock climbing.

When you are at Spitzkoppe, you should definitely visit the Bogenfels, a spectacular rock arch standing besides the sea.

It takes approx. 1.5 hours to drive from Onduruquea to Spitzkoppe. It is also a good idea to make a stopover at Spitzkoppe when driving down to Swakopmund.
